This game is amazing, the new weapons and armors will keep you playing for hundreds of hours. If you are into this kind of game, beware, this game is only for those who do not mind farming a particular monster over and over for parts for weapons and armor. If that doesn't sound fun, then you won't like the game. If, however, you have played the previous Monster Hunter games and loved them, then you will love the improvements they put into the new game. The felyne companions are waayyyy better than the shakas, you can gear them in armor and give them different weapons, they gather for you and help you out in fights, sometimes even saving your life. They've also upgraded the amount of armor sets you can save, increasing it to 40 sets from the 20 in MH3U.There are also new monsters and monster types in the game, so think of all the monsters you fought in MH3U and add 20 more monsters. So if you spent hundreds of hours in 3U like I did, you will easily be putting more than that in this one.The collectors edition is awesome, you get a little box that looks like the supply chest in the game, that holds your game, the statue, the lanyard, the pins and the cleaning cloth. If you can manage to get a copy for a decent price, I would grab it. However, do not pay 100+ for it, it's a nice collectors edition, but definitely not worth over 100. At that point they are just ripping you off.Great game! Perfect for newcomers with added movement options. The Collectors Edition is good for the money also. The best item is the monster statue. Pros and Cons of the edition. Pro: The monster statue is easy to put together, it's well detailed, has a base and is larger than a standard pack in statue. Con: the statue is translucent and takes away some detail that would look better painted. Pro: The box is nice and it has a magnet in it so you can close it. Con: it's cardboard but what did you expect. Pro: The pins are well painted and made of a good metal. The cloth map is a cleaning cloth so the colors don't pop as well as they could but it's ok. Con: The lanyard. Who uses lanyards? Overall good edition for the money but losse the lanyard and the cleaning cloth and give me a soundtrack or poster of the monsters. The box is simple cardboard, which is a bit disheartening. The model is a bit chintzy. Did not come with promised pre-order pin.The game, itself, is an excellent evolution over MH3U. In the span of two weeks I have put in over 120 hours and genuinely enjoy this far more than I did the previous version. The controls are adequate with a c-stick (either on the New 3DS or with a CPP) especially with the removal of water levels. Verticality is preserved with the jumping, multiple (height) levels of play and mounting monsters. The new weapons are innovated and interesting. The new monsters (and old monsters that have been re-introduced) are fun fights. For those who do play the game, PLEASE do not attack when the monster has been mounted.I have only two problems with the game: There is no Wii U version; and my hunters sexy cowgirl Wroggi armor is gone.Note: I purchased at normal retail price (59.99).I'm really impress with this collector's edition and all other collector's edition should be up to this standard. Everything is a bit smaller than picture, except for the cleaning cloth which is huge! It's probably the largest cleaning cloth I've seen (wider than the supply box). The figure comes as pictured, but you have to put the arm/wings on it. There is an extra pink stand which I've read is for attaching more figures? The Felyne pins are great, too. They are really sold, colorful, and cute. Even the backing has cat ears and is rubbery. I only wish the lanyard had been printed on both sides, but other than that this is an amazing collection for an extra $20, considering the pins alone run $10 without shipping. This is the type of game that you would have to be a fan of action type bosses (aka jumping, dodging, shooting, swinging a sword, and figuring out attack patterns) with a lot of RPG elements. Keep in mind though that their is no leveling system and you WILL be farming bosses, monsters, and nodes in order to progress and craft yourself better gear. Think of it as an action mmo game with no levels that can also be played offline. Also be prepared to look up a lot of things. They do hold your hand a bit a long the way but you are better off trying to read it somewhere else imo.Multiplayer works great too. Just be sure not to knock or shoot your friend off during mounting. One of the best Monster Hunter Games to date.As for the collectors edition:I guess you gotta read what you're buying, I mean I guess for paying only $20 more before shipping and handling I really shouldn't have expected anything bigger. The box is made out of hard carton and has a magnet to keep it closed so that's neat. The lanyard is not made out of the best material if you ask me, and figure is nice, the pins are cute, and the cloth is nice. All in all I say go for it if it stays at the price it's at.I love the Monster Hunter series and this game is one of the best I have played, it is a lot more fun to play online but the solo part of the game is very good too. The Magala figure is awesome, not perfect since it's a freebie but very good, I might frame the cloth with the games map because it would be a shame to use it, the palico pins are great I'm using them on my back pack now, and finally the chest in which everything came in, is made of cardboard or something like that, still looks good on my room's drawerJust started playing this one, and I must say, it's pretty darn cool. My only complaint.. you pay over a hundred bucks for a game that's been out a few month, just because it's a collector's item.... and then when you get it, the box ends up being damaged..... Yup... Twice amazon has done this to me.. But onto the game... I've only done the first few quests, but the graphics and game play are pretty darn good. It's just a shame they won't be making these anymore. :( Great game!! Worth the buy!Good games, tons of hours of fun.
